Friday Poems
I started Friday Poems a few years ago (previously Poem Every Monday) and I post a poem every week. Some are about places and others deal with themes such as the passing of time. After a year or so of poems, I decided to add letters, plays and novels too.
About Me
I was born and grew up in the west of England so looking out from the Mendip Hills over the fields of Somerset and the Bristol Channel is when I feel at home.
I started writing poetry during my years at school in Wells, Somerset. We would spend hours on Shakespeare, Chaucer and the Romantic poets. Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley and Byron were our daily companions. I was very lucky with my teachers – their enthusiasm was contagious and I have been reading and writing ever since.
After a career in English teaching, primarily in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, I'm now retired and based in Chepstow, UK. When I’m not travelling back and forth to Spain, I enjoy writing poems, letters and plays, some of which you'll find here.
