Le Petit Prince and the Rose

In our porch the rose is in flower again.

Again and again, it blooms,

Month after month

With flowers deep red and strong.

 

‘Why does the rose

Give itself such pain and trouble

To grow thorns,

Which are of no use?’

Asked the Petit Prince.

 

‘Because it lives, mon petit.

It lives, as we do,

And there we are.’
